This is grandma's famous pie crust recipe. She can actually squeeze FIVE crusts (3 bottoms, 2 tops) out of this sucker. I do not have those skills. I can get 4 crusts out of it.
3 cups flour
1 cup shortening
3/4 cup ice cold water
1/8 tsp. salt
Mix the flour and salt. Put the shortening in and use your hands to mix it in until the mixture is kind of crumbly. Add the cold water and mix it very very lightly - as little as humanly possible. *Press* the dough together very very gently with your hands. The less you work the dough the lighter it will be. Divide it into 4 parts and stick it in the fridge for about 10 minutes. Take out each section and roll it out for your pie as you need it. This keeps that shortening from melting - you get a flakier crust that way. Treat that dough soft - like you'd treat your grandma.
