4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (or mix of Whole Wheat and AP)
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup white sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
1 1/2 cups warm water
Combine yeast and warm water and allow to sit while you combine other ingredients. Combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add in yeast mixture. Mix and then add in shortening. Mix well knead until smooth and elastic. Put in oiled bowl and allow to raise for 1 hour. Form into rolls and place on greased baking tray. Allow to raise again for about 45 minutes. Bake at 400* for 12-14 minutes. Should make about 24 rolls.
